Kenguru

1611 Headway Circle Suite 3, Austin, Texas, 78754, United States

Overview

Kenguru designs small electric cars specifically for people who use wheelchairs, with no interior seats so drivers roll in through the rear. The vehicles measure about 7 feet wide and 5 feet tall, feature an automatic rear ramp and a motorcycle-handlebar steering arrangement. They are built for local trips with a top speed of about 35 mph and an estimated battery range of roughly 60 miles. Kenguru projects a retail price of around $25,000, which could be reduced for some buyers depending on federal green energy and mobility tax incentives. Founder Stacy Zoern partnered with Istvan Kissaroslaki, who relocated operations from Budapest to Pflugerville, Texas. After assembling a management team and lining up manufacturing and engineering partners, the startup secured $4 million from investors and plans to start production later in the year.
