KHULA!
28 Bompas Road, Dunkeld West, Johannesburg, NA - South Africa, 2191, South Africa
Overview
Khula, founded in 2018 by Karidas Tshintsholo, Matthew Piper and Jackson Dyora, operates a three-product ecosystem for farmers: an Inputs App, a Fresh Produce Marketplace and a Funder Dashboard. The Inputs App gives farmers access to approved agricultural inputs and services; the Fresh Produce Marketplace lets farmers sell directly to local and international bulk buyers; and the Funder Dashboard connects institutional investors with farmers who meet funding mandates. Khula aims to provide liquidity, access and market transparency to reduce middlemen exploitation and improve farmer margins, and plans to scale operations across South Africa. The company has signed up more than 3,000 farmers and over 100 suppliers and was accepted into the Google for Startups Accelerator Class 6. Khula closed a $1.3M seed round last year and will leverage its lead investor AECI’s 132 depots to expand inputs distribution nationwide.
