Founded in July 2025 out of Kyushu Institute of Technology, Kick Space Technologies develops and manufactures custom ultra-small satellites and offers one-stop services from design through operation. The company emphasizes bespoke, client-driven satellite builds rather than mass production, leveraging academic research experience from JAXA-linked projects like VERTECS. It is also developing small-satellite hardware and software for sale to other satellite manufacturers. In February the company raised ¥60 million to strengthen its development environment and pursue component internalization to reduce reliance on overseas suppliers and lower costs. Kick Space plans to scale two business pillars—satellite integration services and hardware/software development/sales—with the ambition of becoming a Tier-1 supplier in the small-satellite market. The company is simultaneously working to build a regional (Kyushu and national) manufacturing supply chain and to preserve and transfer domestic technical expertise.
