Kide Science offers a teacher platform of ready-made, story- and play-based lesson plans designed to spark curiosity and hands-on learning across subjects like science, math, language and social-emotional learning. The product aims to ease teachers’ workloads by providing scalable, pedagogically grounded activities and has reached over a million children, parents and teachers. Developed by founders Jenni Vartiainen, Sari Hurme-Mehtälä and Aino Kuronen after years of research, the approach emphasizes imagination-led learning. Kide has partnered with DreamWorks on Gabby’s Dollhouse lesson content and plans further content and product development. Financially, the company has raised a €1M capital injection in the latest financing, taking total seed funding to €3.2M since launching in December 2017. The new funding will be used to accelerate US expansion, pursue new partnerships and homeschooling markets, and hire senior product and UX staff to streamline the user experience. Kide Science provides a platform that immerses young children in imaginary science scenarios, using storytelling and play-based activities to teach problem-solving and foundational science skills. Its pedagogical model is based on research by founder Dr. Jenni Vartiainen at the University of Helsinki and emphasizes hands-on, scenario-based learning. The product includes features to guide teachers and parents through lessons and experiments. Since launching at the end of 2017 the company has expanded into 14 global markets, serves Finland’s largest private kindergarten chain (200 locations and 10,000 children) and produces a TV show on YLE. Kide Science has also signed deals in MENA and Asia, including with a large chain of learning centres in China. The startup has raised a total of €2.4 million to date and recently secured additional seed funding to support international growth and product development.
