Kiki
517 46Th Rd, Long Island City, New York, 11101, United States
Overview
Kiki (formerly EasyRent) operates a marketplace that matches people wanting to sublet with short-term renters using a friend-of-friends invite model and Instagram verification. The product mimics dating apps with Hinge-style prompts and lets listers set criteria while offering management features for on-time payments, secure deposit holdings and e-sign sublet agreements. Kiki takes a 10% fee on each listing and requires users to link Instagram and be vouched for to join. The company was founded in 2018 in New Zealand and previously launched in Sydney, where it filled 1,500 homes in Bondi. Kiki has sunsetted its New Zealand and Australia apps to focus on a planned relaunch in New York City this fall, starting an October rollout in one neighborhood and initially admitting Australians. The startup plans to expand to the top 10 U.S. cities, launch in 20 European cities by 2024, grow to a 100-person team, and has investors lined up for a future Series A.
