Kilter Finance is a specialty finance firm that makes investments and provides flexible, innovative financing solutions to the financial services sector on a global basis. Its investments and loans generally include exposure to behavioural, biometric and/or asset risks, with initial areas of focus being financing life, annuity and health insurers. The firm makes investments from its own balance sheet and is funded by its management team alongside an external commitment. Kilter was founded in 2019 by Dan Knipe, who previously served as Deputy Chief Investment Officer at a $5bn+ London-based asset management firm and built its life-related investments business to over $2.5bn AUM. Kilter intends to use new proceeds to make investments into an attractive pipeline of opportunities predominantly in the life, annuity and health insurance sectors. The company has entered a binding agreement that provides it with a substantial funding commitment intended to support its investment activity.
