Overview
Founded in 2012 by Alex E. Kind and Richard Vialle and headquartered in Eindhoven, Netherlands, Kind Technologies is an IP-focused AgTech group specialising in robotics, computer vision, data and AI for greenhouse horticulture. It has developed the SortiPack system for fully automatic grading, sorting and packing of fruits and vegetables and operates globally as an original equipment manufacturer (OEM). The company employs over 150 people, primarily engineers and technicians. Kind says increased automation can improve distribution of plants and food and address resource scarcity. The newly announced growth funding will be used to further develop product offerings and accelerate international expansion within the greenhouse horticulture market. Planned uses include building an international sales and service organisation and scaling production processes and facilities. Kind also intends to pursue selected buy-and-build opportunities to add complementary IP, technologies and market access. One of a Kind Technologies builds industrial-grade smart vision solutions for automatic inspection and measurement. Its customers include Danone and Unilever. Founded in 2012 in Eindhoven, the group comprises five companies—Beltech, VIMEC Applied Vision Technology, Crux Agribotics, Smart Vision Center, and Uniq Engineering—after two acquisitions. The group employs more than 65 people and reported revenue of €8 million. The company plans to use the fresh funding to double its engineering headcount within five years and to open offices in the Netherlands, Belgium, and the US. Management intends to scale its inspection and measurement offerings and expand geographically with the new capital.
