Kisan Canteen
#60, Rabltaoj Enclave Phase-1, F Block, Qutub Vihar, New Delhi, 110071, India
Overview
Kisan Canteen runs a two-tier retail ecosystem consisting of village-level Kisan Sarthi outlets and block-level Kisan Canteen supermarkets, positioning itself as the “Big Bazaar or D-Mart of Rural Bharat.” The company offers agricultural inputs, off-price groceries, 15-minute soil testing, AI-based agri-advisory, financial services, and employment opportunities under one roof. It currently serves more than 100,000 farmers through 300+ Sarthi outlets across the Champaran and Munger regions of Bihar and is planning rapid expansion into Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. By converting existing FPOs, local agri-input shops, and franchisees of other agri-startups into its own outlets, the firm is building what it claims is India’s most grassroots retail network. Founder and CEO Kunal Anand frames the venture as a platform for rural opportunity rather than charity, aiming to modernize village commerce while giving farmers dignified stakeholder roles. Although revenue figures are not disclosed, the company has been valued at ₹212 crore following its latest investment. The leadership envisions Kisan Canteen as the springboard for a broader technological revolution in Indian agriculture.
