Kismet blends passive background location with explicit check-ins and features for scheduling one-on-one meetings and creating ad-hoc group events. The app builds its social graph via Facebook permissions and surfaces detailed signals like shared visit counts, meeting/chat activity stats, and degrees of separation up to three or four. Its privacy model reveals exact addresses only for users who actively check in and automatically obscures frequently visited residential places after several visits. Kismet also offers a map view of everyone who has actively checked in and displays counters intended to promote better social behavior. The company launched after an incubation period in AngelPad and is incorporated as Meh Labs. The app is currently available only for iPhone, with plans to expand to other platforms, and has raised a seed round to support its early growth.
