Klas is an online teaching platform that enables users to create and sell e-books, courses, and live classes and provides scheduling, payments, community features, analytics, and native video conferencing. The company built its own virtual classroom, KlasLife, with a proprietary video architecture instead of relying on Zoom or Google Meet. Founded in 2022 by Nathan Nwachuku and Lekan Adejumo, Klas serves more than 5,000 online schools (creators) and 300,000 learners across 30+ countries, with creators having earned “hundreds of thousands of dollars” on the platform. It currently offers a free plan with a 5% transaction fee and supports naira for Nigerian users and dollars for international users. Klas plans to scale internationally with a focus on India and North America, add localized currency options, and aims to power up to 100,000 online schools by 2027. To boost revenue, the company may raise prices and is planning an enterprise product targeted at corporate upskilling priced at $199 per month. Klas builds a live-learning platform that packages payments, scheduling, community tools, analytics and a purpose-built video conferencing product (Klas Live) for creators to run cohort-based classes. The product includes Klas Pay (payouts in naira and US dollars, crypto planned), internal messaging, email tools, an analytics dashboard, student ID verification, attendance tracking, and community Rooms. Creators get booking pages, automated recording uploads to YouTube, and can choose free or pro plans. The company says it focuses on live group classes rather than self-paced MOOCs to drive higher completion rates. Klas has amassed a waitlist of more than 2,500 creators and secured partnerships with startups and online schools inside and outside Africa. Financially, Klas raised a $130,000 angel round in March and previously received $5,000 from a close angel investor in December to begin paying engineers.
