KLD Energy Technologies, based in Austin, Texas and incorporated in August 2008, develops an integrated high-frequency electric motor platform that combines the motor, battery pack and motor controller. Its first commercial application targets electric scooters and motorcycles, and the system operates at much higher frequencies than traditional iron-core motors, enabling direct drive, regenerative capture of kinetic energy, higher efficiency, and scalable power and speed.
