KNL Networks is an Oulu, Finland-based provider of a secure data communication platform. Its core product, the CNHF radio system (Cognitive Networked HF), uses shortwave radio transmissions to deliver IP-based communications over thousands of kilometers. The system enables data transmission in remote environments such as mid-ocean locations and remote regions in Africa, Asia and South America. Applications cited include ships at sea, oil and gas fields in remote locations, and research activities at the South Pole. The company was co-founded by Toni Lindén (CEO), Matti Raustia and Teemu Vanninen. KNL raised $10m in Series A funding and intends to use the proceeds to expand operations globally.
