Overview

Koiki, founded in 2015, operates an integrated network of microhubs and consolidation centers to deliver sustainable last-mile logistics across Spain. Its core offerings include urban ‘delivery’ services via microhubs and a door-to-door interurban parcel service, using walking, bicycles, electric scooters and eco-efficient vehicles. The company uses proprietary technology to optimize logistics and partners with social-sector entities that manage local hubs, receiving volume, technology and training to create employment for vulnerable groups. As of the article, Koiki had two consolidation centers in Madrid and Barcelona, a network of 50 microhubs across 17 provinces and roughly 150 employees. In 2020 it delivered about 400,000 sustainable parcels, saved an estimated 172 tonnes of CO2 and provided professional training to over 500 people. Koiki aims in 2022 to expand into the urban areas of Spain’s 150 cities with more than 50,000 inhabitants and to continue growing employment opportunities for at-risk populations. Koiki manages a network of urban microcenters that enable sustainable last-mile delivery using low‑emission transport and generate social impact by hiring people from vulnerable groups. The company runs two business lines: urban delivery (last‑mile pickups from transporters or online shops) and a puerta-a-puerta interurban service handling pickup from customers and final delivery. Koiki reports employing 100 people from vulnerable groups and operating 30 centers across Madrid, Zaragoza, Huesca, Lérida, Gerona, Barcelona, Huelva, Almería, Murcia, Alicante, Valencia, Mallorca and Menorca. Its model combines environmental impact (reduced emissions through sustainable transport) with social inclusion via job creation. Following an equity investment by Fundación Repsol through Repsol Impacto Social, Repsol became a reference partner and the company is positioned to pursue growth and increased profitability with investor support. Koiki is a social enterprise offering sustainable last-mile courier and home delivery services that employ people in situations of social exclusion. It operates through a network of nearby social microcenters and provides pickup and delivery in cities including Barcelona, Bilbao, Girona, Madrid, Palma de Mallorca, Vitoria‑Gasteiz and Zaragoza. The service lets consumers choose delivery times, which the company says reduces buyer hesitancy and improves e-commerce conversion. All deliveries are carried out on foot, by bicycle or using electric vehicles, aiming to reduce pollution, noise and traffic. Koiki’s model generates income for associated social entities while creating employment for vulnerable groups, delivering economic, social and environmental returns. Financially, the company completed a €900k capital round in January 2017 to support rollout into Spain’s main capitals and cities.
