Komoot is a freemium mobile guide for hiking and cycling that plans and customizes tours using data on trails, landscape, elevation and points of interest. The app aggregates OpenStreetMap, NASA, Wikipedia and partner APIs and applies machine learning and user data to improve route quality. Key features include in-house voice navigation and offline maps that can be unlocked region-by-region. Komoot launched its iPhone and Android apps across the UK and multiple European countries after concentrating on its home German market. The company says it is cash-flow positive after two years and has nearly two million downloads. Single regions are priced at £2.49 (€3.59) and a complete Europe pack at £23.99 (€29.99).
