Konsus operates an online design marketplace that lets companies post small design projects—like PowerPoint presentations—and have designers pick them up and deliver work quickly. The company is targeting a 12-hour turnaround for many projects to compress outsourcing time. Konsus hires account managers and project managers to manage customer relationships and ensure quality, and it vets freelancers carefully, accepting roughly 10–20 hires from 5,000–10,000 applicants. Many of its designers come from Eastern Europe, Southeast Asia and other regions outside Western markets, and some contractors have transitioned to full-time roles with clients. Konsus’s revenue comes partly from subscriptions and prepaid teams, with the other half from a pay-as-you-go model where Konsus takes a commission. The company launched out of Y Combinator in 2016.
