Kosmik offers an infinite canvas where users can insert text, images, videos, PDFs and links, preview items in a side panel, and use a built-in browser and PDF reader that can extract images and text. The product is built with offline-first behavior, data encryption and a spatial canvas UI implemented on IPFS so collaboration is peer-to-peer rather than server-based. It is available on web, Mac and Windows and ships with a basic free tier (limits include 50MB of files, 5GB of storage and 500 canvas elements) plus a $5.99/month plan for more storage and unlimited elements; a one-time pay model is planned. Kosmik opened to users in March and currently claims around 8,000 daily users, though offline usage makes exact active-user measurement difficult. The company was founded in 2018 by Paul Rony and Christophe Van Deputte; Rony previously worked in video production and drew on a background in computing history and philosophy. Product roadmap work includes merging codebases into Kosmik 2.0, which will be web-based with desktop wrapper apps and add multiplayer collaboration and AI-powered auto-tagging for images.
