Kraftblock develops patented, multifunctional high-temperature thermal energy storage systems that time-shift waste heat or renewable power to provide green heat up to over 1,300°C for industries such as food, chemicals, paper, ceramic and steel. The company’s sustainable technology is positioned to enable the energy transition and decarbonization of industrial processes. Kraftblock recently announced a project with PepsiCo and Eneco to build the world’s largest commercial high-temperature storage at a food plant. The company plans to use new funding to expand operations and broaden its business reach. Kraftblock was founded in 2014 by chemist Dr. Martin Schichtel and economist Dr. Susanne König and is based in Sulzbach, Germany. In November 2023 it completed a €20M Series B financing.
