Overview
Kriptown is a European fintech founded in 2018 that specialises in asset tokenisation. It has developed proprietary technology to tokenise financial instruments while integrating market and post-trade functions within a single infrastructure. Kriptown is the parent company of Lise, a regulated market platform focused on simplifying equity financing and listings for SMEs and mid-cap companies. Lise is developing a blockchain-based market infrastructure and has applied for approval as a DLT Trading and Settlement System under the EU pilot regime. CACEIS has acquired a minority stake in Kriptown, a move described as strengthening governance and boosting Lise’s credibility as it advances the initiative. CACEIS, part of Crédit Agricole, has been building digital asset capabilities and recently received MiCA regulatory approval, aligning with Kriptown’s regulated-market ambitions. Kriptown is developing the first European stock exchange dedicated to SMEs using blockchain technology under the European DLT Pilot Regime. The platform will give asset managers and individual investors access to SME shares with liquidity via a 24/7 secondary market, expanding the range of PEA-PME-eligible assets. As a DLT TSS, Kriptown plans to combine the roles of a Multilateral Trading Facility (MTF) and a Central Securities Depository (CSD) within a single infrastructure to enable instant delivery-versus-payment with no counterparty risk. The company positions the product as a way to broaden equity financing options for Europe’s SMEs. Financially, Kriptown has secured a €4.2 million Series A round. The round was led by BNP Paribas, Bpifrance and Centilux Family Office, and Kriptown has submitted its DLT TSS licence application to the ACPR.
