Kuato Studios is a UK educational gaming studio focused on redefining how children learn through games and apps and by partnering with brands such as Disney, Marvel and DreamWorks. Founded in 2011, the team has created 14 apps and games which have reached No.1 on over 500 App Store charts worldwide. The company holds a patent for its 'Actor/Director' platform, which enables a socially-interactive VR experience where a headset-wearing 'Actor' is guided and observed by a 'Director' on a secondary device. Kuato has launched 'Panic Room', its first virtual reality title, which is platform-agnostic and currently runs on Oculus Rift with compatibility for iOS, Android and PC. The studio intends to use Panic Room to showcase shared VR experiences, support family connectivity and extend the Actor/Director mechanic across its library of education-driven games. Kuato raised £4.5m in a round led by Horizons Ventures to support its shift into the VR market.
