e-bility, founded in Remagen in 2010, makes the Kumpan Electric e-scooter brand and an exchangeable, plug-and-play smart battery package controlled by AI software. The detachable battery can be removed from the scooter and recharged in standard sockets, enabling use across multiple product categories beyond scooters. InnoEnergy's CEO for Germany described the system's potential to become a de-facto standard for sustainable product design. With a new €3 million strategic funding, e-bility will expand into new European markets with go-to-market support from EIT InnoEnergy. The company will also prioritize development of its software platform, adding smart sharing, location and payment features as well as scooter leasing and predictive maintenance functions. The funding and partnership aim to extend the battery business beyond mobility applications.
