Kumu Networks has built Full Duplex wireless technology that lets a radio transmit and receive on the same frequency at the same time, which the company says doubles spectral efficiency and can enhance LTE deployments and potentially 5G. The startup was co-founded by professors and PhDs from Stanford. It has no revenues because it has not yet commercially released its first product, which is projected to be available by the end of this year. Multiple mobile operators are running advanced trials of the technology. Kumu claims the approach can produce very large cost savings by improving the value of existing spectrum and equipment.
