Kunshan RiboQuark Pharmaceutical Technology Co., Ltd. ("RiboQuark") is a clinical-stage pharmaceutical company formed by Suzhou Ribo Life Science and Quark Pharmaceuticals to advance RNA interference (RNAi) drugs. Its flagship product, QPI-1007, is an siRNA ocular neuroprotectant licensed from Quark that is moving into global Phase III trials for non-arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (NAION) and a pilot Phase II study in acute angle closure glaucoma. Beyond QPI-1007, the company is cultivating a diverse pipeline of siRNA-based preclinical candidates aimed at cancer, hepatitis, lung injury, and other diseases, and is also creating an siRNA cosmetic product intended to prevent chemotherapy- and radiation-induced hair loss for the Chinese market. RiboQuark employs Quark’s proprietary siRNA chemistry designed to maintain efficacy while minimizing off-target and immunostimulatory effects. The joint venture combines Ribo’s nucleic-acid synthesis and Chinese market expertise with Quark’s extensive clinical RNAi portfolio. Currently pre-revenue, RiboQuark’s operations are financed by external capital, including a nearly RMB 45 million Series A round announced in January 2014.
