Overview
Kuvu runs an online platform that matches young people with older adults who have free space in their homes, creating intergenerational living arrangements. The service is positioned to foster social connections while providing affordable accommodation for youth. Kuvu participated in the BBK Venture Philanthropy program before receiving follow-on support. It was selected as one of three initial projects funded by a new venture‑philanthropy fund created by Ship2B and Open Value Foundation. Kuvu received €25,000 from that fund to help develop pilots and demonstrate its model. The funding is intended to help the company prove its potential and ease access to traditional financial markets. Kuvu operates an online platform that connects people aged 55+ with younger people under 35 to live together and create intergenerational relationships. The startup was one of four finalists in the 2019 BBK Venture Philanthropy program and presented at the Demo Day in Bizkaia. As part of the program Kuvu received a €37,000 portion of a €100,000 financing pool distributed among the four finalists. During the program the team participated in an Innovation Bootcamp and received four months of mentoring, training, visibility, and ecosystem connections. The program emphasizes social impact and sustainability, and finalists gain access to additional investment channels managed by Ship2B and BBK. Kuvu therefore has both early-stage program support and the opportunity to pursue further funding through Ship2B/BBK investment vehicles up to €5 million.
