Overview
Kynos Therapeutics is a University of Edinburgh spin-out focused on KMO biology and a pipeline of KMO inhibitors (KMOi) licensed from work co-developed by GSK and the University of Edinburgh. Its lead KMOi programme is being advanced toward Phase 1 clinical trials and the company is developing additional first-in-class KMOi across key indications in inflammation, immunity and metabolism. KMO is a mitochondrial enzyme that converts kynurenine into 3HK, a biologically active metabolite that can damage cells; Kynos aims to reduce 3HK to protect tissue and modulate immune responses. The company’s core team includes CEO Damian J. Mole and CSO Scott Webster, supported by Edinburgh Innovations. Kynos intends to use the new funding to expand operations and finance clinical and development activities across its pipeline. The articles do not disclose revenue or user metrics.
