Overview
Kytephone transforms Android phones into kid-safe devices by locking down the handset and giving parents remote control via an online dashboard. Core features today include location tracking, call control (who kids can call and receive calls from), and application control to choose which apps kids may use. A recent update added camera access control that uploads every photo to parents’ dashboards. The app is built for Android for deeper integration and lower device cost; the company says the app cannot be shut down by kids even if the phone is switched off and the battery removed, and it currently has no plans to support iPhone due to iOS integration limits. Kytephone offers a freemium model—basic controls are free while premium features are paid. Planned additions include geo-fencing, website whitelists, SMS controls, a curated kids’ app store, time limits on games, and alternative themes.
