Lake Harvest
23 Watts Rd, Harare, NA - Zimbabwe, Zimbabwe
Overview
Lake Harvest operates high-tech tilapia farms, hatcheries, and cold-chain logistics to supply fresh and frozen fish year-round to retail and wholesale customers across Eastern and Southern Africa. Founded in 1997 in Zimbabwe, the company expanded operations into Zambia and Uganda and built distribution channels to South Africa, Malawi, Botswana, and Kenya. Its operations include a hatcheries program and contracts with out-growers to whom it supplies fingerlings, feed, technical support, and offtake agreements. The company uses monitoring technology to manage water oxygen, temperature, feeding schedules, and mortality, and runs an antibiotics-free operation with cold storage that can hold product for up to six months. Lake Harvest currently produces about 6,000 metric tons annually and plans to boost production to 10,000 metric tons per year over the next two years. It intends to use new capital to expand its contractual farming business, develop biomass, grow its hatcheries business, improve products, and invest in improved genetics and breeding programs.
