Lalilo
169 11th St, San Francisco, CA, 94103, United States
Overview
Lalilo is an AI-driven online literacy program for Kindergarten through second grade that guides students through targeted exercises in phonics, word recognition, and comprehension. The platform contains more than 3,000 exercises presented in a playful, interactive world and provides teachers with detailed performance data to differentiate instruction. The company was launched three years ago by three engineers and is used in classrooms in the US and France. Each month more than 5,000 teachers and 90,000 students complete several million exercises on the platform. In the US Lalilo sells to schools and districts under a premium model (core use is free; annual licenses unlock detailed reporting and advanced features), while in France the program is free for teachers through a partnership with the Ministry of Education. A recently awarded Ministry grant funds a 12-month R&D phase for three projects in STEM and literacy, and the new investment will be used to accelerate growth outside France.
