LaNua Medical
Unit 126, ATU iHub, Dublin Road, Galway, H91 DCH9, Ireland
Overview
LaNua Medical is a 2024 spin-out from University College Dublin focused on the development of ECORE™, a minimally invasive, umbrella-shaped device designed to occlude blood vessels during embolisation procedures. The technology aims to make it easier, safer and cheaper for interventional radiologists to treat internal bleeding, vascular malformations, and benign or malignant tumours. By creating a reliable occlusive barrier deep within the vasculature, ECORE™ seeks to shorten procedure times, reduce hospital stays and lower overall healthcare costs. The company is collaborating with Integer Holdings and multiple UCD research groups to broaden the device’s applicability across a wide range of vessel sizes and anatomies. LaNua’s leadership team includes CEO Tom Fitzmaurice, CTO Denis Nolan and CMO Dr Cormac Farrelly, who co-founded the business alongside Dr Eoin O’Cearbhaill and Dr Sajjad Amiri. To date the company has secured €6 million of non-dilutive funding from Ireland’s Disruptive Technologies Innovation Fund, providing capital to accelerate development and validation of the device. No commercial revenue or user metrics have been disclosed.
