Latipay is an Auckland-based cross-border payments company that enables Chinese consumers to make online purchases from foreign businesses while paying merchants in their local currency. The company integrates with China’s regulatory system and has partnerships with local e-wallets, allowing payments via Alipay, WeChat, JD Pay and Baidu. Led by CEO Leigh Flounders, Latipay has been operating in New Zealand for about a year and launched Australian operations in November 2016. The company secured over $US3M ($NZ4.1M) in venture capital funding. Latipay plans to use the funds to hire IT staff to build its operations in New Zealand and Australia and to expand into Singapore and the USA.
