Lava International Limited is an India-based multinational mobile handset company founded in 2009 with a presence in over 20 countries. The company designs, manufactures and sells feature phones, smartphones, tablets and accessories, and developed India’s first "India Designed Feature Phone." Lava is currently the second-largest feature phone brand in India with an 18% market share. It intends to expand activities to capture significant share in the sub-$150 cellular phone segment. To support that plan it has entered an equity investment agreement to access external capital for research, development and business expansion. The company will use the funds to strengthen its business and pursue growth in lower-price mobile segments.
