Lawdingo
109 E. 2nd St #1D, New York, 10009, United States
Overview
Lawdingo operates a marketplace where users can browse attorney profiles by location and expertise, then either schedule an appointment or use a "get a call now" feature that immediately connects them to an available lawyer. The service positions itself as a more convenient and affordable alternative to form-based legal sites by facilitating direct consultation with attorneys. Lawyers pay Lawdingo a flat subscription fee to be listed, a model the company reverted to after briefly experimenting with bid-based promotion. More than 200 attorneys are active in each of California, New York, and Massachusetts, and the company has built tools that automatically increase targeted advertising spend to balance client demand with lawyer supply in specific categories. Founder and CEO Nikhil Nirmel, a recent Y Combinator alumnus, has relocated to New York, while the 15-person team remains distributed and collaborates through GitHub and Skype. The startup aims to "lighten up" the traditionally serious legal industry through tongue-in-cheek marketing and user-friendly technology.
