Lea is a chatbot that combines event discovery, seat selection and payment inside Facebook Messenger, using prompts and chat extensions to guide users through the full event-ticket purchase journey. The product pulls in Spotify data to suggest events based on location and friends’ tastes and currently plans to support Apple Music, SoundCloud and additional platforms over time. Lea removed NLP early in development in favor of a guided Messenger experience but intends to add NLP back later to augment interactions. The company sources tickets from third-party exchanges with market-based pricing and maintains a database of around 20 million+ tickets, taking a 20% cut on ticket sales today. It plans to add monetization via third-party integrations for concessions, parking and merchandise to diversify revenue beyond ticket commissions. As of the third week of December 2017, Lea had sold $500,000 worth of tickets and grown to 23,000 users, with nearly half of users having been repeat customers at one point.
