Leap
304 Walnut Street, Unit A, San Francisco, 94118
Overview
Leap is a transit startup launching a commuter-focused shuttle service in San Francisco, operating refurbished NABI buses with plush seating, Wi‑Fi, USB ports, bar stools and natural gas engines. The company runs a Marina-to-downtown route during peak commute hours (7–10 a.m. and 5–8 p.m.), with buses every 10–15 minutes and a 25-minute trip end-to-end. Tickets cost $6 individually, $5 in packs of 20, and $4 when purchased with commuter benefits. Onboarding uses QR-code scans or Bluetooth and the app provides live bus locations, seat availability and in-app purchases from partners like Blue Bottle Coffee. Leap operates four buses with one in reserve and is currently serving fewer than 1,000 riders per day. The company consulted with the San Francisco MTA on routing and plans to add wheelchair accessibility in future buses. Leap is backed with $2.5 million from Andreessen Horowitz, Index Ventures, Slow Ventures and Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff.
