Learnist is a knowledge-sharing network that lets users create multimedia "learn boards" to aggregate, share and discover lessons across topics. The product launched iPhone and iPad apps last year and has just released an Android app to expand mobile reach. Users can embed 40 different types of media and tap into content via Learnist SmartRSS from hundreds of media-company publishers. Learnist initially targeted K-12 teachers and students but has broadened toward lifelong and casual learners and integrations with classroom tools like Schoology and Edmodo. The company reports more than 1 million users across roughly 40 countries, with China the largest source of downloads outside the U.S. Going forward Learnist is focused on international expansion and improving search and discovery to surface quality crowdsourced learning content.
