Legit
Austin, Texas, United States
Overview
Legit is a watchlist app that aggregates where movies and TV shows are available across Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, YouTube, iTunes and theaters. The app personalizes recommendations by asking about favorite genres, movies and platforms, and ranks friends by a compatibility index to prioritize relevant ratings and reviews. Users can add titles to a watchlist, poll friends (including via an Apple Watch counterpart), and track when content becomes available. The company is generating revenue through referral fees and believes its preference data could later be valuable to film marketers. Legit began as a pivot from an anonymous messaging app called Banter and launched a prior proof-of-concept earlier in the year before today's public debut. The Austin-based team of six includes former employees of Zynga, Yahoo and Shopzilla and was co-founded by Andrew Busey, Tony Chen and Isao Jonas.
