Overview
Founded in 2018 by D Venkatesh and Ankur Handa, Lentra offers a cloud-native full-stack platform that supports loan origination, fraud checks, credit-score verification, KYC and collections for banks and lenders. The company has launched a loan management system called 1LMS to accelerate loan fulfilment with greater speed and accuracy. Lentra has expanded internationally, setting up subsidiaries in Vietnam, the Philippines, Indonesia and the US. In June 2023 Lentra raised $27M in an extended Series B to support that global expansion into the US and Asia. The company counts marquee backers such as BVP, Citi, HDFC and SIG on its cap table alongside new investors. Management says the round is a strategic step to fuel its ambition of empowering lenders globally. Lentra is a Mumbai-based embedded AI fintech that provides loans-as-a-service and a cloud-native digital lending platform for commercial banks. Its product suite includes Lentra Lending Cloud (API connectors), a Loan Management System, a no-code business-rules engine (BREx) and a GoNoGo decisioning product. The company uses AI to detect ID-proof theft and other fraud, and claims to reduce loan turnaround from days to seconds. Lentra is profitable; its annual consumption revenue grew from $1M in 2019 to $10M this year and is projected to hit $100M in 2024. It serves more than 50 clients, including HDFC Bank, Federal Bank, Standard Chartered and IDFC First Bank, and has processed over 13 billion transactions and $21 billion in loans. The startup has a 500-person team planned to grow to about 800 to support expansion. Lentra has a presence in Singapore after acquiring TheDataTeam and plans international expansion into Indonesia, the Philippines and Vietnam (offices operational as early as January), followed by the U.S.; it also plans targeted acquisitions in RPA, payments and statistical-modeling teams.
