Leosphere
14-16 rue Jean Rostand, Orsay, Ile-de-France, 91400, France
Overview
Leosphere was founded in 2004 by Alexandre and Laurent Sauvage as a spinoff from Onera. The company develops lidar (light detection and ranging) systems — a ray of light that measures the movement of particles in the air — to detect turbulence. It has deployed over 300 lidars worldwide for applications in wind energy, aviation weather, and climate and weather monitoring. Leosphere closed a €21m funding round and plans to use the capital to buy out existing investors and to expand operations. The round and its proceeds indicate a focus on consolidating ownership and accelerating operational growth.
