LEVC designs and manufactures electric and hybrid London taxis, including the LEVC TX and the new L380 model. The company is developing a Space Oriented Architecture (SOA) electric car platform, created at R&D centres across the UK, Europe and China. Geely has supported LEVC through multiple investments and recent cash injections used to finance the new platform and vehicle production. LEVC’s operations are based at its Ansty Park headquarters near Coventry. Past milestones cited include the 2017 LEVC TX launch following an investment of over £300m and 2015 proposals for a £90m facility intended to scale production to around 36,000 vehicles per year. Geely’s involvement traces back to a 2006 tie-up and a 2013 £13m rescue buyout that saved jobs and the business from administration.
