Levita Magnetics develops the Magnetic-Assisted Robotic Surgery (MARS) platform and commercial product Levita Magnetic Surgical System® to enable less invasive abdominal surgery with fewer incisions. The platform is designed to improve visualization, give surgeons enhanced control of instruments, and increase hospital efficiency by reducing required assistive personnel. MARS has a compact footprint intended for outpatient or same-day discharge procedures and aims to expand access to robotic surgery across community and academic centers. The system is investigational and not cleared by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration; more than 30 cases have been performed in a clinical trial in Chile, including sleeve gastrectomy and ambulatory cholecystectomies using a reduced port technique. The company announced governance changes as part of its next chapter, including the appointment of Maria Sainz as chairwoman.
