Levyx develops Helium, an ultra-low-latency datastore and processing engine designed to boost big-data application performance on commodity hardware. Helium leverages SSD/NVM and multicore-aware I/O and indexing algorithms to deliver in-memory-like performance at a fraction of the cost, processing tens of millions of queries per second on a single node. The company has integrated Helium into Apache Spark to create LevyxSpark, a Flash- and NVM-optimized Spark distribution that runs large queries directly on Flash to permit much smaller clusters with comparable performance to in-memory execution. Levyx targets OEMs, enterprise software companies, and end customers across industries including cybersecurity, financial services, government and defense, social networking, biotech and healthcare, digital advertising, and e-commerce. Having secured its first major enterprise customer last year, Levyx plans to use new funding to accelerate product development and expand sales and marketing resources. The company positions its technology to make high-speed big-data processing more affordable and accessible beyond the largest enterprises.
