Overview
Founded in 2016, the Liga de Futbol Americano (LFA) operates the premier professional American-football competition in Mexico, featuring eight teams located in cities such as Puebla, Chihuahua, Saltillo, Querétaro, Mexico City, Monterrey and Guadalajara. The league’s core product is the organization of regular-season and playoff games, complemented by content production, marketing and fan-engagement activities. Looking ahead, LFA plans to expand its franchise footprint and strengthen commercial operations through a new partnership with U.S. investment firm Global Sports Capital Partners (GSCP). GSCP will assume day-to-day operational management, including content production, distribution, marketing and commercialization efforts. The strategy targets long-term growth of both tackle football and women’s flag football in Mexico. Financially, the league has secured a combined US$100 million capital commitment—alongside its franchise owners—earmarked for a minimum seven-year deployment, giving LFA the resources to scale and professionalize its operations. This marks the first time a Mexican professional sports league has attracted an institutional investment vehicle of this nature.
