Liberty Defense develops and commercializes the HEXWAVE system, which uses active 3D imaging and machine learning to provide real-time covert and overt weapons detection. HEXWAVE features a modular, scalable architecture with concealed sensors and AI-assessed 3D images intended for high-volume foot-traffic entry points and layered, stand-off defense. The integrated sensor-AI array is described as capable of detecting metallic and non-metallic firearms, knives, and explosives. Liberty Defense holds an exclusive license and technology transfer agreement from MIT Lincoln Laboratory for the underlying patents. The company closed a CAD$7 million private placement to commercialize the product and will use proceeds to establish an Atlanta-based engineering center. Management said it will pursue alpha and beta testing collaborations with public and private urban infrastructure partners as market demand for explosives and weapons detection systems is projected to grow to over $5.2 billion by 2020 and $7.5 billion by 2025.
