Lieferheld and Delivery Hero are Berlin-based online food-delivery platforms that allow customers to order freshly made pizza, sushi and burgers online with integrated online payment. The companies raised €8m in a funding round led by ru-Net and Kite Ventures, with participation from Team Europe and Point Nine Capital, bringing total capital raised to €15m. The firms intend to use the funds to continue global expansion. Delivery Hero had already launched its platform in Australia and Russia and planned to launch four more international markets in 2011 and about three more in 2012. The platforms were founded by the start-up incubator Team Europe in October 2010 and are led by CEO Fabian Siegel. Their product focus is scaling international market entry while converting online orders into paid transactions via their payment-enabled service. Lieferheld operates an online food ordering and lead-generation platform based in Berlin. The company earns a commission from restaurants each time a user orders through Lieferheld.de. CEO Fabian Siegel has said there are no plans to internationalise the service yet. The firm's primary goal for the next few years is to become the market leader in Germany. To capture market share it plans to invest heavily in SEO, SEM, print, TV ads and other advertising channels. Recently the company received €4 million in fresh funding to support its growth plans.
