LifeID builds an open-source, permission-less blockchain platform intended to give users control of their digital identities for online access, payments, and identity verification tasks. The platform is designed as an identity layer for both blockchain and web2 ecosystems and is accessible via APIs for partner developers. LifeID says its product will enable actions like transferring money, accessing sites, and verifying income without traditional credit checks, aiming to broaden access to digital banking and currency. The company has 11 employees and is partnering with RChain Cooperative to develop the technology; a test version was planned for the fall with a public release targeted for early 2019. Financially, LifeID received $1.5 million in seed funding from RChain via its investment arm Pithia and is currently running a fundraising round with accredited investors to grow the developer team and ecosystem. Founder Chris Boscolo, who previously co-founded Napera Networks, launched LifeID in 2017 in Seattle.
