Lifesum is a healthy nutrition app that provides personalized meal plans, healthy recipes, food tracking, and nutritional insights. The product integrates with smartphones, wearables, and connected devices to tailor recommendations. The company reports 35 million users worldwide, including 2 million added in 2019. Lifesum has offices in Stockholm and Los Angeles. It has attracted more than $20 million in funding to date, including a $5 million investment from Balderton Capital's Liquidity I fund. Lifesum is a Stockholm-based health app that tracks what users eat and their exercise to deliver personalized nutrition and wellness guidance. The company reports it has 15 million users. Lifesum is positioning itself to do more than simple tracking by forging partnerships across food, fitness, healthcare, DNA and pharmaceutical sectors. An example partnership with UK juice bar Crussh used user data to identify local nutritional deficiencies and create tailor-made juices. Management says the new funding will be used to expand globally, with a particular focus on the U.S. Lifesum has been featured in Apple Keynote events, was among 40 apps to launch with Apple Watch, and is a launch partner for Google Fit, Google Now and Samsung Gear S2. The company is described as market-leading in Scandinavia, Germany, France, Italy and Russia. Lifesum is a Swedish health and fitness app that lets users track the food they eat and count calories. The app includes barcode scanning to add food, a database of 200+ exercises with associated calorie burn, and integrations with third-party fitness data such as Runkeeper and Withings. Founded in 2008, Lifesum has recorded more than 6.5 million app downloads across Europe and—prior to its name change—reported 4.8 million registered downloads and 500,000 monthly active users in Scandinavia, Germany, Austria, and Switzerland as of December 2013. The company bootstrapped to profitability before taking on external funding. Lifesum plans to use new capital to scale internationally, develop more detailed personalized guidance based on personal data, and expand its team. The company has also recruited former Spotify executives to help drive its global expansion and brand development.
