LIFX designs Wi‑Fi enabled, multi-color LED light bulbs that require no hub and offer over 16 million colors, dimming, scene saving and effects via iOS and Android apps. Its bulbs deliver about 1,000 lumens, are four times more energy efficient than incandescent bulbs, and target homes, retail and commercial settings. The company sells three bulb models (Edison Screw, Bayonet Cap and Downlight pre-order) at $99 each and has an open API for developers. LIFX launched via a Kickstarter that raised over $1.3M in six days and shipped pledge pre-orders in Q1. The bulbs are now available worldwide with free shipping from the company store. LIFX says it will use new capital to fund the next phase of the business and is hiring engineering, sales and marketing teams while growing operations in Los Altos, CA and Melbourne, Australia.
