Lightbox is developing Lightbox Photos, an Android camera app intended to deliver a polished smartphone camera experience on Android devices. The company was founded by Thai Tran and Nilesh Patel. Its first app entered a private beta launched at SXSW, where the founders handed out invitation codes and presented the app at the Team Android Choice Awards. Lightbox aims to address Android UX gaps by building features from the ground up that are often native on iOS. The company raised a $1.1 million seed round from top VCs and angels in the UK and US.
