Lightstream provides cloud-based live-video tools—Lightstream Studio for personal chat shows and Lightstream Prism for multi-gamer broadcasts—that make multi-platform streaming seamless. The company grew rapidly after an exclusive partnership with Microsoft’s Mixer and integration of Lightstream Server into Xbox and Windows broadcasting, which quadrupled its audience of creators in a year. Lightstream currently operates servers in North America and Europe and plans to expand into Southeast Asia and South America in 2019. With the new funding it will build up its engineering team, hire Jennifer Farver as CTO, and launch tools for brands and developers later in the year. The company said it will also pursue partnerships or acquisitions to provide creators with audience analytics and monetization support. Founded in 2015, Lightstream has raised $9.8 million to date.
