Lilliputian Systems

36 Jonspin Rd, Wilmington, MA, 01887, United States

Overview

Lilliputian Systems develops portable power products for consumer electronics, including its initial product, the USB Mobile Power System (MPS). The MPS is a portable system for powering and charging virtually all mobile phones and countless other consumer electronic devices. The company has closed $40m of a planned $60m equity financing led by RUSNANO, which joins existing investors Intel Corporation, Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, Altira Group, Stata Venture Partners, Atlas Venture and Fairhaven Capital. Lilliputian intends to use the capital to scale manufacturing operations and to launch the MPS. In conjunction with the transaction the company plans to open a business development office and an R&D and manufacturing facility in Moscow, and RUSNANO Managing Director Georgy Kolpachev will become a member of Lilliputian’s board of directors. The company is based in Wilmington, MA and is led by CEO Ken Lazarus. Lilliputian Systems develops a Personal Power™ solution that extends run-time for consumer electronics via a small form-factor battery charging system. Its first product is the USB Mobile Power System. The company’s patented Silicon Power Cell™ technology is based on highly efficient solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) and MEMS wafer fabrication methods. The system is fueled by recyclable high-energy butane cartridges. Intel Capital made an undisclosed equity investment and Intel will manufacture and supply production wafers, which are critical to Lilliputian’s product lines. Wafer manufacturing will occur at Intel’s 200mm facility in Hudson, MA and supporting activities will commence immediately.
