Linear Health Sciences develops the Orchid Safety Release Valve (SRV) and other safety technologies for medical tubing intended to improve care for patients, caregivers and healthcare institutions. The company touts patient, nurse and hospital benefits such as fewer IV restarts, reduced need for invasive lines, greater nursing efficiency, and cost savings for hospitals. Management said the business is poised for a market launch in 2018. Linear has leveraged accelerator and grant programs including Medtech Innovator's Virtual Accelerator and the Global Center for Medical Innovation to guide product development and commercialization. The firm estimates the market for its technology at $1 billion annually. Linear was founded by a physician and two engineers and has used both private investments and accelerator support to advance product concept and development.
